Conscious sedation with nitrous oxide is a light and safe sedation technique that allows us to relieve a patient’s anxiety during treatment. This gas is eliminated from the system a few minutes after dispensing stops. Another great advantage of nitrous oxide is that it doesn’t cause general anesthesia. The patient remains conscious and capable of communicating so that conventional freezing will also be used.
There are good results with children and adults who have suffered previous trauma, but the use of nitrous oxide doesn’t eliminate the need for conventional freezing during clinical treatments. Talk to your dentist to see if nitrous oxide is a solution for you!
